New caricatures and an unknown text by Abraham Valdelomar

Abstract

This article rescues a series of new caricatures of
Abraham Valdelomar as well as "Horas de lucha"
('Hours of struggle'), a text of the Conde de Lemos
(Earl of Lemos, aristocratic pseudonym) that up to
now has not been compiled as part of his work. With
the publication of these illustrations and this paper, it
is intended to contribute to the systematization of the
complete work of Valdelomar.

Author Biography

Servais Thissen, Investigador belga independiente

De origen belga y residente en el Perú desde 1967. Se ha dedicado a labores de promoción social y educativa, es fundador de dos colegios. Como aficionado a la fotografía, colaboró en muchas revistas, folletos, afiches, tarjetas postales, almanaques y libros, y como videasta realizó documentales y trabajos de concientización en barrios populares. Ha formado parte de varias instituciones de derechos humanos. Actualmente, es miembro de la Asociación Dignidad Humana y Solidaridad, que trabaja en las cárceles. Es colaborador ocasional de la revista cultural Voces. Desde hace muchos años, se ha interesado en la historia de la fotografía peruana y ha investigado algunos pasajes importantes como Max T. Vargas, Martín Chambi y Teófilo Hinostroza. Ha publicado El Perú profundo de Teófilo Hinostroza (2008) y Mariátegui. La aventura del hombre nuevo. Biografía ilustrada (2017).
