The poetry of Abraham Valdelomar

Abstract

Abraham Valdelomar poetry is little studied in comparison to his stories. For this reason, this paper explains the importance his poetry has to guide the horizon of the Peruvian poetry. "Luna Park" and "Nocturno" are analyzed. These poems that do not invite verbal boast of modernism but with their simplicity move us by the genuine feeling they transmit. Concisely, they are poems that draw the path that Peruvian poetry should follow in the future.

Ricardo Silva-Santisteban Ubillús, Academia Peruana de la Lengua

Se desempeña actualmente como profesor principal en la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Es Presidente de la Academia Peruana de la Lengua y Caballero de la Orden de las Artes y las Letras de la República Francesa. Su obra poética comprende Terra incógnita (1975), Sílabas de palabra humana (1978), Las acumulaciones del deseo (1980), La eternidad que nunca acaba (1985), Río de primavera, cascada de otoño (1988), Terra incógnita [Poemas 1965-1988] (1989), Junto a la puerta de fuego (1992), Fuego de tu fuego (1994), En el laberinto (1996), Terra incógnita [Poemas 1965-2000] (2001), Feu de ton feu/Fuego de tu fuego (2006), Cuatro poemas secretos (2012) y Terra incógnita [1965-2015] (2016). Sus estudios literarios se encuentran compilados en dos volúmenes con el título Escrito en el agua (2004). Entre su producción ensayística destacan: Cinco asedios al cuento peruano (2008), Breve historia de la traducción en el Perú (2013), César Vallejo y su creación literaria (2016), El universo poético de José María Eguren (2016) y De los ideales de la traducción a la traducción ideal (2016).
